As you’re now well aware, one of the big advantages of electric handpieces is the ability to control the speed with the press of a button (instead of having to feather the rheostat). In this lesson, we’ll go over how to use the Optima as efficiently as possible.

Using the Optima

In the video below, Steve showcases a huge advantage that electric has over air-driven instruments – the ability to to precisely control the speed using the Optima interface (which you’ll learn more about in the next lesson) and your attachment. Steve demonstrates the versatality using the high speed red attachment.

Speed Selection Suggestions

The interactive image below, is designed to offer suggestions on different speed ranges and for which attachments. You’ll notice that the High Speed Red can do almost everything but chairside trimming, as long as you have the right friction grip bur for the procedure in question.
